It has taken over a decade of singing to audiences in the smoky late night clubs and dives of her native East Sussex, and beyond, to form the after hours, warm vocal tone of singer / songwriter Lindsay Field. If her songs have an honesty and passion about them, it’s because they come straight from her heart.
Lindsay long ago swore never to take the ‘Make or break’ route to the reality show conveyor belt, choosing instead to ply her trade in the shadows of near obscurity but with her integrity in tact.
Lindsay’s public performances began at a young age and early comparisons with great singers like Karen Carpenter, whilst complimentary, instilled an instinct in the young Lindsay to sing in her own style and to be proud of her uniqueness.
Influenced by great songwriters such as Gretchen Peters and Paul Carrack, with whom she later appeared in concert, she quickly grew in maturity as a talented songwriter in her own right.
In the late 1990s, Lindsay found herself fronting in a band which featured keyboard player Mick Rose. They began writing songs together and developed a writing and performing partnership which continues to this day.
Lindsay and Mick now regularly appear in concert together, sometimes with a band of other musicians, but frequently on their own. The simple sound of Lindsay’s enchanting voice accompanied by Mick’s delicate piano playing beautifully portrays their music in its purest form.
They have appeared at venues all round the country both large and small, played at music festivals and performed on numerous live radio broadcasts, including a recent ‘Live on air’ spot for veteran broadcaster Dave Lee Travis. At the end of 2006 Lindsay also graced the stage at Fairfield Hall as part of a support act for Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings.
Lindsay and Mick have appeared on several occasions with internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Richard Durrant who also features on Lindsay’s recorded work.
Above all else Lindsay Field is a great singer, as unique and expressive as any great singer can be.
